About Hotel, Location

Kullu’s former name was derived from the word “Kulanth Peeth”, which literally means the end point of the inhabitable world, and was also mentioned in epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Vishnu Purana. Kullu was home to many Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples in the days of yore, but both Hindus and Buddhist inhabited the caves near the mountain passes. Rich in crystal, red copper, bell metal, gold, and silver, the valley got its first motorable road after independence.

Known for its grand celebrations during Dussehra, Kullu is famous for hosting big Dussehra fairs. The place is home to famous temples, namely the Bijli Mahadev temple, Bhekhali temple, and the Raghunath temple. Apart from religious places, Kullu also houses the great Himalayan National Park that offers a truly different and adventurous experience to thrill-seekers. The park is home to a wide variety of flora and more than 375 faunal species, including 181 birds, 31 mammals, and 127 insects. It is considered to be one of India’s biggest national parks as it spreads across an area of 1171 square km at an altitude between 1500 and 6000 metres. A status of “outstanding significance for biodiversity conservation” has been conferred to this park by the UNESCO World Heritage Site Committee. Another architectural marvel in Kullu is the Raja Rupi palace which is also known as the Sultanpur Palace. It is a marvelous sight to behold and it still serves as the home to members of the royal family.
